CLEAN (Contrastive Learning–Enabled Enzyme Annotation) is an AI tool from MMLI that predicts what reaction an enzyme catalyzes directly from its amino-acid sequence, assigning its enzyme commission (EC) number with better accuracy and reliability than the previous standard tool. It's especially strong on the hard cases — annotating poorly-studied enzymes, correcting mislabeled ones, and flagging enzymes that perform more than one function. Published in Science (2023), it's available as a free web tool through MMLI's AlphaSynthesis platform.
